Terms & Conditions - Safety Statement for The Lab Music Studio

Effective Date: 02/02/23

At The Lab Recording Studio, the health, safety, and well-being of our clients are our priority. We are committed to maintaining a safe and secure environment for all who use our facilities. This Safety Statement outlines our approach to safety within the studio and sets out the guidelines for the safe use of our premises and equipment.

1. Health and Safety Responsibilities

  • Studio Management: The studio management is responsible for ensuring that the facilities and equipment are in a safe working condition. However, The Lab does not provide on-site staff for client sessions and all users are required to follow the safety procedures outlined below.

  • Clients: Clients are responsible for their own actions while using the facilities at The Lab. By using our studio, you acknowledge that you understand and agree to follow all safety guidelines and procedures while on-site.

2. General Safety Guidelines

  • Studio Equipment: All studio equipment, including recording gear, instruments, and technical apparatus, is regularly inspected and maintained to ensure it is in safe working condition. Clients are solely responsible for the operation of the equipment during their sessions and should only use equipment they are familiar with or have been instructed to use prior to their session.

  • Electrical Safety: All electrical equipment is checked regularly for safety. Clients must ensure they do not overload electrical circuits or create unsafe conditions. The Lab is not responsible for any accidents resulting from improper use of equipment.

  • Fire Safety: The studio is equipped with fire extinguishers. Clients are responsible for knowing the location of emergency exits and fire safety equipment upon entering the studio. Fire exits and pathways must remain clear at all times.

  • First Aid: A fully stocked first aid kit is available on-site. There are no on-site staff to assist with medical emergencies, so clients should be prepared to manage any medical situations. In case of emergency, the nearest medical facility should be contacted immediately by the client.

3. Studio Environment

  • Noise Levels: Recording studios inherently have high noise levels. Clients are encouraged to take breaks to prevent hearing fatigue or damage.

  • Ventilation: The studio is equipped with adequate ventilation to maintain air quality. Clients should ensure that ventilation systems are not obstructed by equipment and should use the space responsibly to avoid creating hazardous conditions.

4. Equipment and Instrument Safety

  • Proper Handling: Clients are responsible for handling all studio equipment and instruments with care. Any damage to equipment or instruments due to misuse will be charged to the client.

  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): In specific scenarios, such as moving heavy or large equipment, clients may choose to use personal protective equipment (PPE) like gloves. It is the client’s responsibility to ensure their safety when lifting or moving equipment.

  • Recording Space Safety: Clients should ensure the recording space remains free of unnecessary clutter and that cables and other equipment are safely positioned to avoid tripping hazards.

5. No On-Site Staff and Client Responsibility

  • No Supervision: The Lab does not provide on-site staff during client sessions. Clients are fully responsible for the use of the facilities, equipment, and their own safety while using the studio.

  • Self-Supervision: As there is no on-site staff present, all clients must be self-sufficient in managing their session and ensuring they follow proper safety procedures. Any accidents, injuries, or damages that occur during a session are the responsibility of the client.

  • Behavioral Expectations: Clients are expected to conduct themselves in a safe, respectful, and responsible manner while using the facilities. The Lab is not liable for any accidents, injuries, or damages caused by the client’s actions, negligence, or failure to follow safety guidelines.

6. Emergency Procedures

  • Evacuation: In the event of an emergency, clients should immediately follow the evacuation procedures outlined in the studio. Clear signage will direct you to the nearest exit. Since there are no on-site staff, clients must evacuate the premises independently and without delay.

  • Medical Emergency: In the event of a medical emergency, clients must contact emergency services directly. The Lab is not responsible for any medical emergencies or providing medical assistance on-site.

7. Reporting Hazards

  • Hazard Reporting: Clients should immediately report any hazards, unsafe conditions, or incidents to the studio management after their session. This includes malfunctioning equipment, slip/trip hazards, or any other safety concerns. While staff are not on-site during your session, we rely on clients to report any issues after their time at The Lab.

8. Compliance with Health and Safety Laws

The Lab Recording Studio adheres to all relevant local health and safety regulations. We continually review and update our safety procedures to ensure compliance with applicable laws and industry best practices.

By using the facilities at The Lab, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Safety Statement. You agree to follow all safety guidelines, to use the studio equipment and facilities responsibly, and to assume full responsibility for your actions during your session.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding safety procedures, please contact us prior to your session.

Stay safe and enjoy your time at The Lab!
